R/O Water

If I am using storebought water and my ONLY two options are 'Reverse Osmosis' or 'Distilled', which one should I get?

NEVER NEVER NEVER use distilled! Always use R/O or R/O D/I

some one recommended that if I had to use store bought use distilled but he highly reccomended an RO/DI

I recently(last month) got myself a RO/DI unit, but in the past few years, I was only using store bought distilled bottle water because I didn't have a choice.
What is the long term negative effects it had overall? I know the distillation methods would be very questionable for marine use.
Is it the lack of minerals contents?
