if money is going to be a problem for you...you may want to rethink what you are going to do...you dont want to have animals suffer...but you are going to do what you want to do anyways...sorry...i was just trying to help...

That comment wasn't necessary. The only thing that will purify your water is a RO/DI unit. You could try one of those tapwater filters (I think coralife makes it) but it still will not remove everything.
I would be willing to bet my tank (which is pretty darn nice IMO) that you will be back here in a few months asking why you're having algae problems. We will ask you if you use RO water, you'll say no, and then wonder why you didn't.

Thanks heaps, im gonna spend money to make them not suffer but my mum said the water in the rain tank is fine and i really doubt she will buy water for like $1 per gallon. :(
Thanks heaps guys. And so does anyone know why sumps are in sections that the water flows either above or below. Why not straight through.

Try and stop you? I personally am not here to try and stop you..... I think we all gave you ways to get better water but obviously it isnt in your budget. So, I say PUT IT IN THERE and THEN COME BACK AND TELL US HOW EVERYTHING DIED... but just dont go

to jon the fish guy. I dont have any fish there but i will soon. Is there any warning signs that the water is bad. Will the sea weed in the tank die or will the live rock rock do something.

Heaps? You're not getting the answer you want, so you're insulting us? Don't come to a board full of knowledgable people who are giving you good advice and basically say "nope, I'm doing it my way." Just about every aquarist uses RO water. Why? Because it's the best thing to use. Sure putting buckets on my roof would save me money....until I need to replace all my sps.

a word of advice LISTEN to what these people have to say and heed their warningif they say it is not safe then I would not rick it spend the 10 or 15 bux and get a bottle of AmQuel Plus it remove the harmful anmonia from tap water

Will the bottle of liquid stuf to get the chlorine and stuf out of the tap water get the ammonia out and nitrite. I am trying to listen. The only way i can do what they say is put tap water in. So i gues i have to do that.

yes it will but if you buy a RO/DI unit then you wont need the amquel to remove chlorine.

you will also need some more live rock...you probably have 25-30 lbs in there...a good rule of thumb to follow is 1-2 lbs/gallon...you will need 65-100lbs of live rock...
