I have one in my 75..but he did'nt go in until the tank was in it's second year. They are not an easy fish to keep...some will refuse to eat prepared foods and die of starvation.They need algae,do eat hair algae,and will also sift your sand...but it is so minimal in a large tank it does'nt disturb it. Very beautiful elusive little fish.Mine will come out often throughout the day,but likes to have the rockwork to retreat to .

Very neat little laid back fish, if you have a tank that can support it. I have two of them and neither of them will eat any prepared foods as previously posted. The do sift sand, but ever so minimally, and even in a nano sized tanbk its not a problem. Its too bad they are not that easy of a fish to keep as they would certainly be nice in a lot of tanks as the prices in this area are good....$12.50 or so each. Just like a mandarin, nice cool fish, cheap enough to have, hard to keep in most tanks.

Brine shrimp is virtually non-nutritious unless gutloaded...so it's not the best choice. Mysis shrimp is a better staple diet for fish. I would vary the diet to include some algae based foods. Spirulina is good. There are algae based foods such as formula 1 +2..and others. Experiment until you see that he is eating..and make sure his stomach does'nt look pinched. They can starve pretty quick.... a few weeks.
