I know I'm being a little silly, but here is a list on some of the chemicals we are now drinking. R/O removes most of them. Ask the salesaman to do tests for these after he puirifies your water:
Antimony - Discharge from petroleum refineries; fire retardants; ceramics; electronics; solder
Arsenic - Erosion of natural deposits; runoff from orchards
Asbestos - Decay of asbestos cement in water mains; erosion of natural deposits
Barium - Discharge of drilling wastes; discharge from metal refineries; erosion of natural deposits
Benzene - Discharge from factories; leaching from gas storage tanks and landfil
Beryllium - Discharge from metal refineries and coal-burning factories
Cadmium - Corrosion of galvanized pipes
Carbofuran - Leaching of soil fumigant used on rice and alfalfa
Carbon tetrachloride - Discharge from chemical plants and other industrial activities
Chlorobenzene - Discharge from chemical and agricultural chemical factories
Chromium - Discharge from steel and pulp mills
Copper - Corrosion of household plumbing systems
Cyanide - Discharge from steel/metal factories; discharge from plastic and fertilizer factories
Dalapon - Runoff from herbicide
Dichloromethane - Discharge from drug and chemical factories
Dinoseb - Runoff from herbicide used on soybeans and vegetables
Diquat - Runoff from herbicide use
Endothall - Runoff from herbicide use
Endrin - Residue of banned insecticide
Epichlorohydrin - Discharge from industrial chemical factories; an impurity of some water treatment chemicals
Ethylbenzene - Discharge from petroleum refineries
Ethylene dibromide - Discharge from petroleum refineries
Fluoride - Water additive which promotes strong teeth; erosion of natural deposits; discharge from fertilizer and aluminum factories
Glyphosate - Runoff from herbicide use
Lead - Corrosion of household plumbing systems; erosion of natural deposits
Lindane - Runoff/leaching from insecticide used on cattle, lumber, gardens
Methoxychlor - Runoff/leaching from insecticide used on fruits, vegetables, alfalfa, livestock
Mercury - Erosion of natural deposits; discharge from refineries and factories; runoff from landfills and croplands
Oxamyl - Runoff/leaching from insecticide used on apples, potatoes, and tomatoe
Pentachlorophenol - Discharge from wood preserving factories
Picloram - Herbicide runoff
Simazine - Herbicide runoff
Selenium - Discharge from petroleum refineries; erosion of natural deposits; discharge from mines
Styrene - Discharge from rubber and plastic factories; leaching from landfills
Tetrachloroethylene - Discharge from factories and dry cleaners
Thallium - Leaching from ore-processing sites; discharge from electronics, glass, and drug factories
Toluene - Discharge from petroleum factories
Toxaphene - Runoff/leaching from insecticide used on cotton and cattle
Trichloroethylene - Discharge from metal degreasing sites and other factories
Vinyl chloride - Leaching from PVC pipes; discharge from plastic factories
Xylenes - Discharge from petroleum and from chemical factories
Doesn't it make you want to stop drinking water?
