Actually, he has oddly enough done this for about 4 months now.. he used ot host a rock since i cant have an anenome in there for him but now he digs in the sandbed and lays int here..he eats well, hes very active, but he really like laying in the sand alot.. very weird fish! he will be going into my 120 reef soon htough!
saltn00b hey PSU i thought you couldnt keep anything with dragons? or is that only the japanese ones?
ive never heard of this before.. the brazilians are pretty docile. And i know that AW2 had kept his hawaiin dragons with cleaner shrimp that used to clean their mouths so i dont think its a problem
thanks for the complioments!

Thats awsome mine was about 2" and after 7 months he is about 3 1/2" now. So how did you get him to grow so big?

i think in all fish weather it be my shark, rays, tangs etc. the key to good growth and fast growth is variety in there diet.. from flake and seaweed all the way to shrimp, silversides, squidd, octo, fresh saltwater fish fillets mysis etc. i also suppliment with their vitamins and garlic.
it may sound crazy but i also beleive that if tangs have alot of swimming room(6-8 feet long and at least 2 feet wide) they are also alot more active and happy and grow alot faster as well, thats not proven just my opinion
..people underestimate the speed of a tang and how they liek to "speed burst" around the tank at times...

bubbacat I was just wondering if your tangs ever pick at your shark?
no thats why i will only house tangs with my shark.. they never pick at him or evan go near him.. when he is swimming they get out of his way quickyl!
ginarox your tank is so awesom!!!!! thanks for sharing, have a great day..
thanks

which is why i sometimes laugh when people but those little tiny cute 1-2 inch blue hippos not realizing how big they really get

and even those numbers are no where near max size (about half). even the foxface gets alot bigger than yours though yours is huge to most people.
Oh yeah tank is hot!

That is too funny!!! When I first looked at that I thought is was one of those algae clips. LOL!!!

Speaking of algae clips, do you feed your tangs any algae sheets? What happens if the clip falls? I hope you have a tong to get it out. Does the eel go after you? A lot of questions I know, just really facinated by your tank. Good job!!

i know ive seen the same tangs i have ALOt bigger than mine at aquariums.. i cant wait till mine are that bitg because thats a great excuse for a upgrade!
Yet people still put tangs in really small tanks!

yes i feed purple dried seaweed and green nori sheets( along with mysis, squidd, shrimp, cod, random salt fish etc)..i dont put it on a clip i just take a big sheet and hold it int he tank.. its gone within a minute.. the alge clips dont wor for large tangs because they tear them right off the wall
Does the eel go after you
when i first got him i was holding the feeding stick to the bottom of the tank for my shark to get a bite to eat and he came without me seeing and bit my pinky finger but let right go since he knew it wasnt food.. since that he knows my hand from food, but im still very carefull in my tank since there is a shark, and eel and three poisenous fish. I do clean my glass with a rag the hard way since its acrylic and have my hand up to my elbow in there alot, they just seem to know and have gotten used to it by now
