recently bought a chalice coral. it was being held at my friends house and was doing great in his tank. i brought it home yesterday and woke up this morning to find it basically melting away.i went out and bought some coral rx because i read that it aids in the treatment of rapid tissue necrosis. i just finished the dip process. i will be putting a picture up very soon. any input is helpful on what it might be thanks

RTN is something that happens to SPS. Chalice is not SPS, it's LPS.
Did you acclimate this coral from one tank to another or just drop it in? I've noticed that acclimating like you would a fish can really help out.
Are any parameters different from your tank vs the tank it came from? Lighting?

i acclimated it like i would do for anything that goes in my tank. float for 15 minutes add i cup of tank water every 5 minutes after that. until 30 minutes. and the parameters are the same and the only lighting difference is i dont have my mh's on because i didnt raise them up yet,

I think we need the picture...some corals "slough" off a coating when touched, stressed or moved
Kinda like how leathers shed, but different
I suck at wording things

chalices are really finicky to alk. it can cause the tissue to recede quickly if your alk was no where near range of the tank your buddy has.

dont stress over it. out of the 3 chalices ive purchased, only 1 has made it. the same thing happened to mine, the tissue receded FAST. within a couple of hours and they were down to one eye

mine was a little slower than that but i got a frag of area 51 and it had 2 eyes. i looked at my local LFS yesterday and they said it was being sold at 50 an eye. i paid 10 for 2 eyes. i was pleasantly surprised i think i might just sell it to them haha
