I was just woundering if anyone is using this filter and what are your thoughts? I am using it and i am on the fence, it has a surface skimmer, but no long tube to pull stuff from the bottom of the tank, i put in a power head and aimed it down to move debri from the bottom of the tank, it also has a built in protien skimmer which is nice but i am questioning how good that works too, i have a fluval running on my reef tank and i think i like it better but cant afford to get new filter, whats your opinions? can i make it work more efficient?
Thanks

I've got one and I've been pretty happy with it. I've had the filter up and running about 7 months, but I just got around to hooking up the auto top of doohicky. It works a lot better than I had expected. I did have some issues with the skimmer initially, I finally ended up putting a ball valve on the return side to regulate the pump coming out of the tank. The pump was kicking the water out faster than the overflow box could drop it down and the skimmer wasn't getting enough water to work properly. I really like the way the aqualifter cuts the overflow off in a powerfailure. Plus I think its rated for 160 gallons, so it keeps the water in my 75 looking pretty good.
I do wish I had room for some CHeato

tfolke1, did the ball valve also cut down the noise from the overflow, also did you use a different line for the return to accomodate the ball valve? On my PS3 I also get a lot of pressure coming out of the little hole by the Intake hose so I have to leave the cover lodged up a little. If I had to do it again I would get a wet/dry sump with more room for heater and stuff

where did you put the ball valve and what is it? mine is pretty noisy as well, always sounds like water running, i put a uv on the return.
How does your protein skimmer work? mine does really seem to be pulling anything out, maybe i dont have enough junk for it to, but it seems like it does'nt get the bubbles into the cup,
i wish it had a tube to suck crap off the bottom instead of just a surface skimmer, not unhappy with it, so far so good, just would like to talk to people who have one
thanks
