I was browsing manufacturer's sites and I came upon the TOM site which was advertising their filter. It is a canister and a wet/dry filter with a air driven skimmer. I know the skimmer does look too great but the actual filter looks interesting. It claims to be a hybrid of the wet/dry and a canister. Has anyone used this filter?

I have one on my 80 gal. I think it works great....And yes the skimmer is crap! Don't even bother using it. It comes with everything you need overflow, hoses, clamps, pumps, auqu lifter, the pump is 700gph! I think it is a good product if you have a tight fit under you tank. plus it is only 250 - 300 dollars and i think it come with auto top off for 300.dollars. I got mine at the LFS for $150 but no water top off.

I've got one as well and I'm Very Happy with it. The Filter is actually rated to 160 gallons, so it keeps the water in my 75 very clean. The Aqualifter/overflow device has properly broke suction twice when the power went out and prevented the filter from flooding. Both times it started back up on its own once the power came back up. The Biggest Issue I've had with it is a constant dance to keep the water level in the filter at the proper level. The amount of water that comes thru the overflow keeps changing based on how much crud is on the prefilter and how much water has evaporated from the tank. I'm thinking of going to a lower quality prefilter sponge to correct this. (You will need a ball valve between the return pump to avoid going crazy. If your tank has a decent amount of evaporation, the water drop in the tank causes the level in the filter to drop to far and you get a ton of microbubbles blowing into the tank and the skimmer stops working. The Skimmer does work very well if you keep the water level in the Filter high enough. The auto-top off tank runs more off of a gravity feed than a pump and shut-off switch. I did almost flood my tank with that, but I still think its a nice feature. I do wish I had room for some Cheato. The best part is if you look hard enough online, You can find it with the auto-top off system for $182.00.
I bought mine from a Doctor.
