i agree as well. the star rating is not a good idea.
i would like to see a personalized, not computerized, ranking structure administered by the forums moderators.
they know who is who around here and what their knowledge level and help level is. let them promote and demote.
not that i care in the slightest about rank! however, if you're going to have it... i feel that this is the way to go about it.
this board has the capability for moderator induced ranking structures. i think it would reward alot of the people here who are very well versed in the hobby who don't post often. plus it would give newcomers an idea of who it is they are taking advice from.
i can't even count the number of scarlet cleaner shrimp, which are now percula clowns (ugh), who know far more than i.

I agree.I am not only here to ask questions and to try to help others,but also to learn.I don't just read what I post.Have I been giving alright advice?I'm pretty educated on diseases since I had ick.I've been doing a lot of reading.I just don't want to feel like I'm not usefull.But I agree there should be some way of knowing whos giving good advice.Myself I don't give it unless I know I'm right.Its to easy just to get on here and type whatever you feel like typing!!

Have to agree with Sammy on this ratings are are usually a popularity contest not relative to the boards goals.

Hey I like the new look to the BB. I see now that everyone will be rated. Well I know I pop in from time to time, however, I like to post my advice only from experience or from what I've read. Mainly from experience since what is read from a book or magazine can differ.

I also agree,remove the ratings. I think new people will be influenced by what the rating says. And I also agree it will be a popularity contest. I got a idea, rate everyone 5 stars. We all deserve it for just being on here to get more info on this wonderful hobby.

new board...great idea, i like it alot. rating system...bad idea. if i am ranked with only 3 stars or something, even if i know some advice given by someone with 5 stars is wrong, i would be hesitant to post it, simply because i have a lower rating. just my opinion, and since i frequent this board, i thought id throw my 2 scents in. also if everyone is going to be rated, why am i not? not that i really care about it, im just curios why some people are rated, and others are not.

I got another question. If someone gets into a heated debate with a Shark, the Shark has the power to boot the person from this board? Doesn't seem right. That person may not speak in fear of getting kicked off by a Shark.

yeah sammy good points. having moderators promote names would just cause mucho problems for them. would be good for newcomers... but not that good i guess.
