I've questioned if this is a RBTA since I got in 4 months ago. I've seen the tentacles extend more than they are in the pictures but it usually looking like this 90% of the time. I'm guessing that it looks this way because it's still small. Am I right? Thanks.

Thanks for the post enyates. I figured it was a BTA, but i'm not sure if it's a RBTA. The tips have a pinkish color to them, but the rest of it is tan.

I can accept that Viper_930. Do BTA's grow pretty quick? I have 2 false perc that have shown interest in this BTA, but it's so small that they really can't do much with it.

If you have a lot of lighting, good water quality, and feed it a couple times per week it should grow pretty fast.

It looks like a very healthy RBTA to me.
Just my opinion but I believe there are two types of RBTA and they look and act differently.
One type will split often and rarely obtain any real size. These look like the one you have/ They are very pretty and very prolific.
The other type grow large and have longer tentacles. It also has a lot more pink color and a very slight irridescent green disk.

Thanks for the post Bang Guy. What you are saying makes alot of sense. I was kind of expecting this RBTA to look more like yours once it had been in my tank for a while. I definitely love the look of my RBTA. I'll probably look around for another RBTA that's bigger and has longer tentacles like the one in the pic.

Here's my Rosebud, he was a little bigger than a quarter when I got him. 8 months later I would say he's about the size of a golfball, this is closed of course. I only have 260w PC so slow growing. Here he's about 4" across.

Mine is more like bang guys. It is only a BTA not a RBTA and they too elongate.
Looking at mine someitmes I wonder why they call them bubble tip. guess the do that sometimes but don't think I have seen mine do it sense it was at t he fish store.

I don't see any pink in the tentacles though. I think it's a regular BTA not a rose.
