It has been about 2 months since ive had anything in my QT. Do I have to cycle the QT again before I put anything in it?

Has it been up and running?Water filtration etc...Also has their been anything in it?Snails anything??I think their has to be some sort of bioload on it.For the bacteria to live off of.Of course i'm new and could be wrong.

Try feeding the tank and test for amm and nitrite. Keep feeding little bit until levels are at zero and you are done.

pfft, feeding flake food to an empty tank is asking for trouble. Throw in a small piece of a shrimp tail and wait a couple of weeks. If I were you, I would put in a small damsel and keep it in there all of the time.

ok thanks for the replies. No there has been absolutely nothing in there, besides some live rock I put in when I originally started the tank. I have been running the filtration, and doing partial water changes.

I don't understand this.Either way it is something breaking down in the tank to cause an ammonia spike and the nitrogen process. Why do you say not to use the food?

I think he means that flake food has more phosphates and can lead to nusiance algae so it's better to put some quality frozen or use a shrimp.
