reactivate carbon filters???

are you able to reactivate the carbon in your filters in the aquarium ??

It can be done. However, it involves a baking process to vaporize the organic material that was bound to the carbon. It is much better to just get fresh carbon.

It will depend on how many dissolved organics are in your water. However, many people feel that it is inactive after ~24 hours in your tank. After that it does provide some biologic filtration as it has a large surface area and lets bacteria live on it.
I only use carbon periodically (e.g. once monthly) to give a shine to the water.

I run carbon filters daily change filter once a month I run 2 aquaclear 300 carbon filtered/sponge/amonia pack,1 skilter also carbon packed,aquaclear 5000 powerhead .change filters monthly and clean sponges monthly..125 gal tank..next tank will have wetdry bio filter.but it is effective in maintaing this tank.for those of you that don't have the finances for that expencive tank we all want this does keep a healthy tank for a fraction of the cost
