yes i know. what I'm asking is when i get my first corals what do I need to do?

you are going to have serious problems with corals with only 250gph of turnover. Do you have 2 150w mh? or only 1. you can't keep any sps and most lps with a flow that slow. you may want to buy some powerheads or add a closed loop.

aclimate them and put them in the tank then do a 10% water chang a week with rodi water and add some cal. also add dt's for food

its only a 55

my water return pump is 250gph I also have 2 powerheads
I only have 1 150watt mh

saltwater tanks at a minimum should be 10x turnover yours is at 4x.

so are you putting the mh in the middle of the tank or on one end?

i have a 300gph on my 35gal freshwater tank and it barely moves the water. IMO, before getting corals research and answers must be determined, this helps you save your time in the long run.
