Hi
We are ready to buy a RO/DI filter. I've been looking on the big auction site and there are some good deals. I really don't understand how you hook up the system. :scared: I know you can install them under the kitchen sink and some people install them in the garage. I see some units with holding tanks, some without. and some come with faucets. If you hook it up under the kitchen sink will the water that comes out of the faucet at the sink be filtered?? Can someone please explain how you installed your RO/DI units??? Thanks so much!!

I use the hose adapter that I ordered with the unit and a dishwasher adapter I got at Home Depot. I don't keep mine hooked up all the time since I have it at work. Once I got the right adapter, it was easy to set up. I don't have the holding tank. I fill gallon jugs directly. I put them in a bucket so I don't have to worry about overflowing. Good Luck, I love my unit. I hope this helps.

Go for the cheap 100 GPD "Aquarium" unit on the auction site I think it's on for $99 US. You get a free PSI Gauge and a free TDS Meter. Add the faucet adapter and just fill jugs from your faucet whenever you need. It's a 6 stage unit and works really well. I'm very happy with mine.

Pool-boy, how long does it take to make 10 gallons? How often do you have to replace the filter? My husband is afraid to order of the big auction site cuz he's afraid we won't be able to order filters later on... I don't have a problem ordering from that site.

I can fill a 20 liter jug in about 3 hours. As for filters, I just ordered extra filters and DI beads at the time of purchase. A case will last you about 5-10 years or so depending on usage. Aquasafe is the brand. Excellent product.

Take a look at the Typhoon III. The unit comes with about all of the attachment you need for a standard hook up including a TDS meter. You can also get a float valve attachment so you have water whenever you need it. I cant tell you how many times I flooded my water room before I added the float valve.

I have a Kent Marine, came with everything needed to install it, just plumbed it into a cold water line in the laundry room. The unit is more efficient if the input water is slightly heated to about 80 degrees though otherwise very slow.

I bought a unit from "aquasafesystems". Awsome unit and not very expensive. This company makes their own units and sells them on that auction site. I found them through this message board a couple of years ago. At the time there were a number of people here using this brand. Get the 6 stage RO/DI with holding tank. Easy to install under your sink.

I just bought mine today off the big auction site. I'm still setting up and over budget and couldn't afford a typhoon but if you type in dual outlet ro+di you can find the one I bought for $115. It comes with a 3.2 gallon holding tank, a faucet, and a SEPARATE line specifically for filling up jugs, or whatever so you can drink water from the faucet and not worry about disconnecting any lines to fill up something else.
