okay, I just put up my new lights last night, one 250watt MH and 2 36watt pc's for actinic, the problem is the MH is in the middle of the tank and the middle tank brace is casting a shadow down the middle of the tank, looks like crap. Anyone know what I can do to fix this.

Get a new tank. I have the same problem because the brace is plastic and not clear. I plan on getting a new tank with a clear brace. Solves all my problems. yeah right:p

how wide is it?
if 48" i'd suggest a second MH and place them on either side of the brace...

Are you using a reflector ?
Parabolic reflector may help ??
I recall someone else posting this problem a long time ago, that was also using a single MH lamp.

I cannot really return it, I am just using one reflector that runs the length of the tank. I was also thinking about a parabolic reflector. What about running the light perpendicular to the tank instead of parallel?
Don't worry I wouldn't remove the brace :D ,

okay, where on the tank should I mount this reflector, to the left or right of the brace, and should I mount it parallel or perpendicular.
Thanks for all the help guys! nothing like spending all that money and hating the way it turns out!
