Well I dont know if there are 849 or not...
But,anyway....I had an issue with my automatic dosing system...and it spiked my Alk and Cal. So , I did not have any water available for a quick fix......Oh wait...I have 45 gallons of beautiful water right over there in my QT. I was able to do a water change immediately and straighten everything out. Just another great reason to have a QT.

That is a new, and excellent reason, for the support of a QT

Yeah, it's always good to have a freshwater planted aquarium around as well, just incase your RO Unit goes on the fritz for awhile...

Here's one for the list....
#whatever: You buy a fine looking fish and the following day it dies causing a small spike.
No I don't have my QT set up yet, but luckilly I still had fresh clean water in my jugs to do a small water change.

WOW! Glad I ended up not getting that drews doser

Actually, the dosers ARE working correctly...after further review,it seems as the level in the gallon of my alk additive gets towards the bottom,it also gets MORE potent.

I don't mean to rain on the thread, but that, technically, would not be one of the general reasons to support having a quarantine tank.
Reason being is if you ever had to dose anything in your QT (copper, formalin, bacterial medication) as many people do, those chemicals might get absorbed in your silicone and release back in the water at any given time. Many would not think about that when going to use that water and you definitely don't want to put that water into your display.
