Rebirth of my 150

I finally got my tank moved and as of last night got it running again
. However moving this heavy SOB
costed me a torn hamstring and a twisted ankle because one of my helpers slipped while we were bringing it into the new place. However she is in place and now has 150 gallons of RODI in her with a SG of 1.023 and a temp of 78 as of 4 PM today. However my skimmer has been going NUTS since last night have had to drain it 3 times removing over a gallon of dark heavy skimmate so far. Called all the crap that died in the sand and rock when the tank died the first time now just waiting for the tank to stabilize before I reseed it with some fresh LS and LR. LET THE CYCLE BEGIN.

Great, glad your coming back after the tragedy.....
Gotta ask, torn hamstring literally? or just pulled? Cause I gotta tell you, a torn hamstring is a horrific injury that requires surgery in most cases....I hope not.

Ortho doc says 60% tear in it from the MRI result no surgery needed at this time AS LONG AS I DO NOT move the tank for 2 months. As for pics can some one tell me how to get them onto this site I am taking a pic a day right now and want to get them on here but do not now how to. As for the injuries could have been worse I could have blown out my knee instead consicering when we were bring it up the steps and he fell I wass the only one since I was at the far end holding up the whole freaking thing while feeling my knee going to the side and hearing a rip.
You need to realize something about me however I moved this tank last winter 4 weeks after MAJOR SHOULDER surgery. My ortho had to repair 3 tendons 2 ligaments and repair the head of the humorus bone that had fractured inside the socket. I was supposed to still be in the sling for 3 months however I ditched that after 2 weeks and have 98% moblity and 100% of my power back in it and my doc said with my damage I should only get back to 80% both ways.

Did my first water test today Ph 8.2 Nititres .25 Amonina 2 did that one 3 times knew it was going to be high did not think that high. Nitrates 0 still. I am going to add a little LS from a friends tank this weekend to help reactivate everything again. As soon as my Skimmer quits PUKING.

I love both my LFS and my local reef club. They both gave me some LR and some LS to really get the cycle jumping. Rechecked my Amnonia today and it had dropped down to 1 and Nititires were up to .5 so there was something running.

Man I wonder if some of the Bacteria encapsulated when everything in the old tank went to hell. Did another water test today Ph still the same Amonina is ZERO Nitrites are Zero Nitrates are 5 ppm I did not use a rapid cycler or anything like that. Skimmer has stopped pulling out so much crap out where I had to empty it every day. I redid the test 3 times I have been ghost feeding also.

What should I do guys I am a member of a really small Saltwater club and a 3 members have offered me each one fish this week one wants to give me a 10-12 inch SFE another a 2 inch Niger Trig and the last the president she wants to give me a 4 inch Dog Face Puffer all for min cost to me. My water is still showing fine and a test at another LFS confirmed my earlier tests that I listed here. What should I do take the fish or wait. Skimmer is no longer pulling out the massive amount of skimmate maybe 1/2 oz if that a day. I have zero amoinia Zero Nitrites and Nitrates are at 2 now ph is 8.2 and Saility is 1.023 should I take them I have the food for them since I had just gotten food for my other fish right before the power failure and it remained frozen.

I would add only 1 fish to start with and see how it goes, how the water levels hold up. Wait a few weeks then if everything is good, add another. Go with the trigger since that would be the hardiest one of the bunch.

Agree there, do one at a time, and Niger's are very hardy fish, damsal like IMO....Thats nice everybody in the area is helping you out after what happened. SFE is very tough too, I would put him in second.

I took one more sample in with me before picking up the Niger yesterday. Ph is 8.2 Nitirites Zero Yes Amoninia is Zero and Nitrates are 5 I hope the cycle is done. The LFS is going to watch the Dpg faced and the SFE that the others basically gave me for free for 2 weeks then I pick them up.

Nice pics. My fav is the dogface. And nice job on cleaning that tank up!
But if you want to see the image rather than the link, you just post the text rather than the http://.... text.

Boy I do love my LFS and my luck. I bought a instant lottery ticket and won 500 bucks and so my wife and I went to my LFS again. Were is what I bought and Yes I know you are going to hang my butt but I also am running 2 15 watt us Sterilizers also now so any ICH gets its but fired instantly one on each side of the tank. He had a Mated pair of Clarki Clowns for 40 8 inch Blue Hippo tang for 60 4 inch blonde naso that is in Qt along with the SFE and puffer since he got that in friday. I also PU some snails and a few Hermits for a cleaning crew if the niger doe not make a meal out of them. Pics to follow later today.

Too much too fast IMO. UV Sterlizers dont kill all Ich, they just help reduce it a bit and hopefully enough to not take a strong hold on any fish. Need to have patience in this hobby or you could be setting yourself up for crash. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but you're taking some unnecessary risks.
