I am going to Hawaii in July and would like to get an new camera that can be used on land and underwater. Would anybody have any recomendations on what type of camera and where to get it? I'm looking for a good to decent one but does not need top of the line.

I've use several types of disposables on previous trips and they do all right for some situations but I am really looking to get a camera that is digital and has more of a range than a disposable. As last year I ran into a 6 foot barricuda in Cosumel and the picture didn't turn out. Also would like something that can give clarity with motion and has a good depth range.

research online i know they make a cover to go over your digital camera, my father had one when we went on vacation last year. Its a plastic case that covers your camera. good luck

I appreciate the info. I would like to get a full set up camera/flash/cover etc. and wanted to know if anyone had any experience using a camera setup on snorkel/dive trips? and if they had any preferences for cameras/equipment and good websites to purchase from. I live in a small area so no local provider. Budget of $1,000 but would like to spend less if I can get a good quality. Any Ideas?

if you want a good underwater camera, I shoot the Sea & Sea DX-750G digital camera. I got it at leisure pro. Great price and you get the warranty . I say that cause divers know online sales are a no no in the hobby of scuba diving. http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/Categ...50G.html?Hit=1
I have taken this camera with me to Cancun, and the keys for scuba diving and it performs like a charm. I also use the strobe light since most of my diving is in jersey, and the water loaded with plankton so the water is green and not as clear as the Caribbean or the keys. If you’re a scuba diver then this camera will perform for you. If your snorkeling then a disposable will work, BUT you really have to watch your depth. I was doing a snorkel dive with some friends on a trip that don’t dive and I blew the seal on the Fuji water camera. When they say only rated for ten ft they mean it. The camera is real cheap compared when I bought it. You’ll save some coins and be getting a great underwater camera.
