I am thinking about building a glass tank in the following dimensions.
48 long 24 wide and 18 high. Approximately 90 gals
First off what type of glass to use and what thickness? According to calculators found on the net quarter inch would work. Is tempered mandatory for bottom of tank if eggcrateing is placed in bottom prior to sand to disperse rock weight?
Finally what kind of square footage cost for the glass at cut price and possible drilling is fair. I have a feeling where retail prices are concerned in my area I could easily over pay if I walk in off the streets without some kind of idea on what cost should be.
I also have access to wood working tools and a master carpenter for help and was wondering if constructing a wood frame/jig would make siliconeing the tank together easier and more accurate than traditional methods and if this is even necessary.
TIA
