Mag Drive pumps are pretty good. I use one for my return and I haven't had a problem with it at all. They're pretty quiet and reliable. It looks like thats what they used in the puctures too.

AGA has a list of pumps and info on that unit at their website, all-glass
I use mags as well and I like them. You did not say how big your tank is or how much gph you want but all ties in to how your tank drains and what your overflows can handle But they say that WD is good for up to 110gs.

I have a 55g the overflow is rated at 800gph
So if i go with a small mag drive rated at 950 with a control valve on it, then i should be fine.
ok this units description is as follows:
MegaFlow Sump Filter
* Easy-to-install high quality acrylic wet/dry sump filter
* Overflow bubble chamber enhances quiet wet/dry filter operation
* Removable filter media drawer for custom filtration
* Main sump allows for additional protein skimmer, submersible pump, or other equipment
High quality acrylic wet/dry sump filter is engineered for quiet and easy operation. Unique multi-chambered sump expels air bubbles quietly through the primary "Bubble Chamber" and through a final bubble defusing sponge. Reduces gurgling noises and air bubbles that may affect pump performance. Features removable filter media drawer that slides out easily to be filled with your favorite media for custom filtration. Large biological media chamber comes filled with bio-media, and molded media grate keeps media above the water line for efficient bio-filtration. Main sump reservoir accommodates additional protein skimmer, calcium reactor, submersible pump, or other equipment. Requires appropriate siphon overflow system for undrilled aquariums.
Model 3 25-1/2" x 13-3/4" x 17" Up to 110 gallons
will this work?

phew ok, hey one more question, the unit comes with a flexible tubing that is supposed to run from the overflow to the pvc inlet on the wet/dry. If i go to home depot and by the adapter to just rin 1" pvc straight down to the inlet on the wet/dry, keeping in mind a control vale is still in place, will i be ok?

remember not to put a valve on the line between the overflow and the wet dry, or you might end up with water everywhere.

i shouldnt put a control valve between these lines? Are you saying that if i limit the flow of water coming from the overflow to the wet/dry i may overflow the overflow? lol

If you want to control water flow you should do it on the supply side. other wise you could run the water over in your DT. You can however split the drain line and put a valve on one side to control the water going to your fuge.

What everyone is telling you is to avoid restricting flow that goes from your overflow to your wet/dry. If you are going to use a valve, place it between the return pump and display tank, on the return side of things.
If you place a valve on the overflow side you risk overflowing your display tank.
