Hi,i'm looking for some recommendations on powerheads,i'm currently running twin Penguin 1140s,the problem i'm having is that the new one i bought is blowing bubbles, the other one is 20 years old and it works great...LOL!,on the new one i disconnected the air tube that lets you control the airflow and capped the hole but it still blows micro bubbles,so what i'm looking for is a brand that has great air flow control,as well as high flow output, suggestions are appreciated

Hydor Koralia...I think they are awesome and run them in my tanks..best bang for the buck..They have no airflow control..they will not cause any mirobubbles.
I dont understand what you want the airflow control for?

Hi, not trying to thread jack but instead of making another thread I thought I would just post here.
What do people recommend for powerheads in a 46-gal bowfront tank? So far the only flow I have is from my return pump but it's not that much.

Tunze, with controller. You set the power you want, and you can shift between power settings like a tide.

dont know if I would say they are better quality..I read all the time how people with 6025 the clip breaks that holds the pump..I think they are just overpriced for the name

Just throwing out another choice to the op 05runner. Yes, it's pricey, but it's near the top of the line. I'm sure there is a complaint out there for every brand, but I don't think too many people question the quality of Tunze vs. any other brand on the market, including those mentioned here. Personally, I don't skimp when it comes to equipment. There are plenty of other ph's out there that can do the job, this was just my personal choice.

Vortechs or Tunze controllable powerheads.. hydors are okay if you want an affordable pump, just don't expect it to last a long time
