Denny is a good guy. My husband worked with him until the end of 2006 on the Busch side. I really like him and his girlfriend was really nice (no longer together though... after 7 yrs). Take a look at this new kid AJ Allmendinger. Mark my words, he is going to be good ;)

Denny OWNS Pocono. Don't know how he does that, but he does. He also has the right attitude. I like last year he got a bad cut on his hand because he was in a running race with one of his guys around the hauler and cut his hand on the hauler. I like stories like that of these guys just being regular people.
AJ is pretty good. But isn't he in Waltrip's team? They had a rough year last year, well at least Michael did.

AJ is with Red Bull Racing Team. My hubby switched over to them in Nov 2006 after 9 yrs with Joe Gibbs. AJ did really good at Daytona testing, but now they had to change a motor last night and they haven't found the speed so far. Car was handling really good but just didn't have enough power for the straightaway. We'll see how the change worked this afternoon.
Yeah Denny is a goofball sometimes. Wasn't that cut the year before? I remember hubby telling me about it and him wiping off the blood from the bumper corner of his hauler :(

BTW that is cool what you say about Denny. Like I said I like the stories about the drivers. The cut could have happened the year before, When you get to my age looking back it all starts to run together.

I think you are turning me into an AJ fan (can't spell his last name). So I must ask, what does your hubby do? I see that you are in NC so you are in the heartland of NASCAR.

Yep we are in the center of the action. He drives the race hauler for AJ. He's been doing this for 18 or so years, drove the hauler for Tony on his rookie year in the cup in 99, worked for Bobby Labonte for 7 yrs when he had his own Busch team and got then sold to Joe. When still in the Busch side he was also the gasman. Now on the cup side their responsibilities have been cut back to be sure that if something would go wrong during a pitstop (catching on fire etc.) there would be no problem in bringing the race hauler back home.
Last year was AJ's first in stock car racing, he came from the open wheels. So when he did his first testing in Vegas, he was all over the walls... all the time. Our guys gave him a nick name... walldinger

He is a funny guy too. The company Christmas party was held in a nice restaurant downtown Charlotte and the guys were acting like a bunch of kids. Let me see if I have a pic that I took on my cell camera.

OK that is the ultimate in cool, about your hubby. He must hate it when the race is out here in CA. Or if there if the race is rained out. I never thought about the hauler driver staying out of the action. It does make sense that they make sure that the team can get home.
I remember AJ from last year, he was the best of the Toyota guys there for a while. I also remember the announcers saying he has a lot of potential.
I will not hold it against you that your hubby drove Tony's car for a year. My wife HATES Tony, and I mean hates him. Although Bobby always seemed like a good guy.

He doesn't like it much when they have the West Coast races. They were just testing in Ca and Vegas last week, he got home on Sunday and left for Daytona on Wed. They may fly him home tonight for Mon/Tue (days off at the track). If not, then he won't be home for 10 days and when he does get home, he is here less than 24 hours and heads out for Ca and Vegas for almost 2 weeks. I'm not a very happy camper either and our little girls (2yr old twins) stop asking for him after 6-7 days on the road. They are very upset with him.

I was about to say, I think it's her husband that's tall.
I'll start paying more attention to AJ.
That has to be tough on the family, but support him. This has got to be a dream job.
I really liked Jr's performance last night, but I still can't stand Hendrick's racing. This is going be so weird, like last night having Johnson and crybaby back there pushing instead of loosining him up so they could get by. Maybe they are just trying to play nice for their new team member, but the gloves will probably come off soon.

YIKES, him gone for that long and you with 2 year old twins. I have always had a lot of respect for single parents and that is what you are when he is on the road that much. My wife used to travel in her job and fortunately has not done it that much lately. Although he is gone at least for 3 or 4 days at a time every week. You know thinking about it WOW you have your hands full.
You know I would invite him over to our house when the race is here, but we are at least 2 hours away from the track when there is not traffic. So it probably would not work out for him.

I'm actually pretty OK with him being on the road. The normal week is him gone maybe half of the week, but the season opening is horrible with all of the testing and long distance races. I used to travel with him a lot before we had our girls. When our girls were born a few weeks before the season began, I don't remember a whole lot from the first months. By the time our girls were 10 weeks old, he had been gone over half of their lifes. The monster trip was 21 days (Ca, Mexico City, Vegas).
Now I'm so set with my routines that when he is gone I know I'll get a lot more of my work done. I work from home running my web development company and when girls go to bed at 7pm, I continue working. During the week they go to day care so that is almost vacation for me :)
Thanks for the invite, that was nice of you. Yeah if you had been closer, he might have shown up at your doorstep :)

WOW do you have your hands full. But your kids are in a fun part of their lives. My daughter just turned 13 and she literally turned into a teenager over night, including the attitude
It is weird how it happens because literally on my sons 14th birthday is when his voice started to change.

Scotts, my oldest son (of 3 boys) is getting ready to turn 13, and man....the whole attitude/teenage/whatever you want to call it

And have you read some of these other threads on here from some of the teens? I'm actually trying to learn some stuff here. I don't know if I'm ready for this or not

T3, Ooh you have your hand full also, 3 boys and your oldest just turing into a teen. It is all just starting for you. But yeah with my daughter I have already started to get the I am the dumbest person on the face of the earth looks. Fortunately I have raised her so that while we may have words with each other, to not hold a grudge and we can talk civilly to each other in a couple of minutes.
I have not read the threads on here because I thought we were farther away from that, but her birthday was two weeks ago and like I said, that flipped the switch. So I meght check out some of those threads now.

Sorry Scotts, just reading about your nose job now. I hope you are feeling a little better by now and you found something a little more interesting to watch on TV. Get better.
