red algae everywhere!

I have a 55g tank with some corals and fish with everything running smooth. However, a month or 2 ago, my LFS gave me an algae plant (??) to help some growth and now suddenly I have red algae growing wild all over the glass and LR. He says its healthy and a sign everything is good in there and all my tests and levels seem ok. But I now question whether this much is really good. Should I remove the plant? is it too late? any suggestions will help. Like I said the fish and corals are all doing great.
thanks

its red coating on the glass which comes off fairly easy when I scrape it but I would say its red and slimy all over the LR and pumps..... is this bad or just unsightly? what can/should I do?
thanks
