I just got power compacts for my tank. I now have a red algae problem! Nothing is eating it either! Anyone have any suggestions on what will eat this stuff or how to contol it? :notsure:

Do you use Tap water?
Do you have a phosphate test kit?
How old are your bulbs?

Have plenty of water movement, I use RO/DI water. Just upgraded to power compact lighting (new lighting)

I would try to find the cause first. The snails might eat it but it might come back.

I had a bad red slime problem not too long ago. Your snails likely won't fix the problem. As in the quote, water movement is HUGE. However, once it starts, even water movement many times won't get rid of it (just prevents it).
Though I NEVER like to add chemicals to my tank, there is a great solution. Go to your store and ask them for red slime treatment. There's a little powder they give you, and you only use a little and in a few days it's GONE! Then you just do a water change of 20% and add more water movement as preventative maintenance and you are good to go.

yes he is correct the product is made by ultra life reef products called red slime remover.
it works wonders and if you get your water quality fixed up you should never have to use the product again.
also watch your protein skimmer output. if you dont watch your skimmer can overflow.
