red algae

hey all, have red algae on spots on the sandbed, none on the rock, been there for a little while now, doesn't look like it's spreading to fast (if at all) if i leave the lights off for a couple days it goes away, but within a few hours of turning the lights back on, it comes back:notsure: so anyway, i put in new pc 50/50 bulbs this weekend, did a 25% water change and its still there. any ideas on what to do to rid my tank of this?

Have you tried running a skimmer, using RO/DI water, or doing more waterchanges?

am running a skimmer(not a very good one though, imo) seaclone 100. and using RO/DI water.

remove the algae from your tank manually.

Sounds like Cyanobacteria, thrives on excessive nutrients usually located in low circulation spots. You may just try increasing your water flow in the area as to where it is.
