Red Algae

ok i know what it is and all ....but i was just wondering about it i have some growing on my rocks n stuff and i was wondering is it ok to have or is it harmful or do people usually get rid of it cause they dont like it?......and how the heck does everyone have the purple coraline growing alll over????

red algae or cyno bacteria?
the coraline comes in time and good lighting and calium levels and good water flow to spread teh spores.

as stated above, at about 6-8 months, coraline algae should begin to take off. turbo snails will eat red algae, but they tend to knock corals over.
