Hi i'm new to the hobby and have a 15 gallon nano cube setup it has been setup for about 2 months and I have a red algae problem, I had a green algae problem but I used phosgone to remove it and have not had any green algae since. This Red algae is annoying ugly and grows way fast. I am planning on getting a 150 gallon tank soon and would like to know how to solve the red algae problem.
My water is as follows
78 degrees
Ammonia 0.0
Nitrite 0.0
Nitrate 2.0 It is do for a water change

pH 8.2
Here are some pictures

Yep you have cyanobacteria. What are your phosphates and stock list? How often do you feed and what is your flow rate?

phosphates are less than 1.0 I use phoshate removal on a monthly basis, I am unsure about flow rate because it is a self contained Bio cube .

I would add some more flow and cut back on your lighting time alittle bit and feeding.
i would also check your source water for phosphates. what foods are you feeding?

I will check my source water next time i get some it should be this weekend I feed with Sera Granumarin pellets, Aquadine Custom formula flakes, and frozen mysis. How long should I have the lights out for? I have a few corals and dont want then to die.

Siphon out what you can and make sure you have good flow in the affected areas. It's definitely cyanobacteria.

The affected area is pretty much the entire tank, How would I create more flow? I constantly remove this stuff but if grows REALLY fast

Well...........the good news is.......you'll have many less problems with the 150.......I have a 12g nano and a 125g and half the problems with the larger tank.
Ok.......now.......the red stuff.........it seems to grow in places with low flow.......I would work in another power head...and maybe an airstone along the back wall (theres a spot to run the wires and air hose out on the left side of the lid)..the flow thats comes standard the nano isnt strong enough........I believe this site sells power heads for nanos.......Do u run your lights for more than 10 hours????? Whats your specific gravity levels??? My algae seemed to slow down after I got my levels closer to 1.026

I was fighting the problem for two weeks, while the red slime plasmed my tank from teh rocks to the sand.
Finally I got Red Slime Remover and the problem was gone in two days...however, it seems now I have super oxyginated water as I have tiny bubbles all over the place. Hope that is a byproduct of the cure and will dissapate, but it did get rid of the red slime and I had no loss of life.

do you have inverts? I have some hermit crabs an emerald crab and some corals, This product wouldn't hurt them would It? I have also heard that the red slime remover will kill of the good bacteria in the tank which would not be to good.
