Red Algae

Its been awhile since I've been logged onto the board, but good to be back.
I have a 125 gallon tank with a porcupine, picasso, maroon clown and a spotted hawkfish. I am having trouble with red algae growing on my live rock. It has the consistency of cotton candy.
My readings are 1.023 salinity, 8.2 ph and 0 nitrites. Any ideas??
I am also starting a 30 gallon reef. Would a prism skimmer be efficient? Thanks!

Well how many hours a day are you keeping on the lights? Whats the water temp? I think the Prism would be good, some pwoerheads, and maybe a penguine?

USE RO (REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER) FOR YOUR NEXT WATER CHANGES. DO 40% AND DROP THE SALINITY TO ABOUT .019 WORKED FOR ME, AND IN MY OPINION ALL SALTWATER TANKS SHOULD HAVE A SKIMMER. GOOD LUCK

I would look into the lighting and reducing hours or better ventilation. How is your phosphate?
I have a prizm on my 29 gallon and it works like a champ.
