Red algea is back

cut back on feedings, every other day. cut down on lighting time. weekly water changes. increase water flow in the tank.

test phosphate levels.... is your tank relatively new??? this would be the answer... its just part of most tanks development.

I set it up in september and got fish in october
The skimmer is working well but its all on the sand

Maracyn for freshwater will get rid of the cyno but you still need to try and find the underlying cause. Add 1 crushed up tablet per 10 gallons to your tank and the cyno will be gone in 3-4 days. My 220 FOWLR was covered in the stuff and it cleared with no side affects. I never did really ID what was causing the probem but I did change my flow and cut feeding back a little.

We also had alot of red slime in our tank we used this product and it worked perfectly. Here is the name of the product and its use and explanation of the product.

is there enuf water flow? you say its coming back ! how did you get rid of it? what have you been doing differently lately? in this occasions the only product i use,is water change, reduce feeding portions,reduce lighting periods.

i used kent phostates sponeg 15 g water chagnes a week and Byod Cyno Remover Chemiclean
But i dont want to be so reliant on chemicals

do you have a sand sifting goby in there? i had that problem cleaned it up . got a ssg and it miraclously?? disappeared.

you think I should get one
they are reef safe ( not that i have a reef tank now but i would like one later on)
I have about 10 turbo snails and 20 hermits
I use Instant Ocean
