Red algea

I have some red algea on my LR that has been there awhile. It is only on LR, not anything else. I know this is supposed to be dangerous. How do I get rid of it? I do not seem to be getting anymore and haven't in a while. I just want to get rid of the older stuff. Any advice is appreciated.

If it's cyanobacteria and localized to rocks, you can try directing a Ph at them to increase the water flow.

If it is not multilplying then just remove as much as possible by hand, and increase waterflow as bigarn said.

Thanks for the responses. It is definately not growing. How do I go about scrubbing it off of my rocks? Those rocks have some pretty sharp edges. Could this be part of the reason I am having nitrate issues despite my frequent water changes??

I will purchase a few more powerheads as well. How many do you think I need for a 60 gallon tha is 4 feet long?? I also think I am leaving my lighting on for too long. How long is sufficient?

I had the same problem when I first got my tank going I found that mexican turbo snails love that suff but if you dont have any I accually used a turkey baster and sucked the stuff out of my tank little at a time as to not have it flying all over the tank to spread I did that for a couple weeks along with partial water changes.But later I purchesed a majestic foxface (rabbit fish) I havent had it come back yet some hermit crabs ans turbo snails eat it do some more research on what species thrives on it
