Red and Black Worms??!!

I was wondering what they could be? I just got a used tank and they are in the water. They are very small with hair like things on their sides. Also there are little star fish no bigger that a dime from tentacle to tentacle. They are black in the center with cream tenticles. Please if you can help me figure out what these could be!!

the worms sound like bristle worms (detritivores, good to have but if you have too many they can indicate a food overabundance)
the stars sound like a type of micro brittle star also a good detritivore that multiplys well in our tanks.
