red and purple firefish together in a 90g?

We have one regular firefish who has always been by himself. We're thinking of adding one more red and 2 purple. Do you think they would get along alright? We've got about 140 pounds of live rock in the tank with tons of hiding areas and currently we only have 4 small fish in the tank with no plans on getting anything bigger than a dwarf angel.

This is not a given. In a smaller tank there might be aggression but you have enough real estate and enough rock to dispell territory issues. You may see some pushiness and chasing but this may be temporary. If you see things getting ugly, remove them.

Ok, would you suggest putting the other red and 2 purple all in at the same time?

I think that keeping these together may not be the best idea. There are some cases with them living together but there is no 100% chance it will work.

Do you mean the two species, or do you mean keeping them together with the existing goby?
We've been planning this for some time and would like as much input as possible, but certainly don't want to take any BIG risks with them. (I have no problem breaking up a fight and separating them, but I certainly don't want to awake to find our timid friend has slaughtered the whole lot of new gobies!!)

I had a purple and red together , got the red first, a month later added the purple. They were fine for afew months then my purple started chasing the red, would only let him on one side of the tank. Then for some reason, the purple started hiding, i didn't see it for 10 days, thought it was dead. It sledom came out at all. My red seemed happier, started roaming the whole tank again. Then he jumped out of the tank, and my purple is out in the open again. So IMO, i wouldn't mix them even in groups.

What size is your tank, if you don't mind me asking? Also, how much LR do you have?
I hear so many mixed messages, and see so many conflicting posts on this topic! It's very frustrating for hobbyists that very much would like to have them.

Again, though, the fish come first.

If anyone else wants to share their experiences that is great, but between this and all of the other useful posts we've found it seems that it's all a roll of the dice and greatly dependant on the disposition of your existing animal(s) and any that are added in this situation.

I wish it had turned out better for mine, they are great looking fish. Doesn't mean it won't work for you though.
