I have a red open brain and he just doesn't look good.It was out on the sand but it started bleaching. So thought it was getting to much light 2x250 MH.So i put it under a rock in the shade. It has since been expanding alot and expelling some brown stuff. It also hasn't expanded it's feeder tentacles in about 5 days.So i can't feed it.I'm worried and wondering what i should do?

Definetly got stressed, but I don't think shading the brain is the answer, becuase they need strong to moderate lighting.
Are you keeping your parameters in check? I had a yellow polyp bleach on me and I've since been adding reef builder as needed.
What are you feeding your brain? Are you spot feeding it?
I just leave mine alone and add prytoplankton every once and a while.
I know they need that, good light, and good flow.
PS I had mine in the nether regions of my tank and it wasn't doing so well, so I moved it midrange and epoxied the rock he is attached to to the reef. It is looking better now. MH 250 Watt. 2 600 GPH Koralias to stir my cauldrean...

I moved it because i read a post about the reds needing less light and thought maybe it was getting to much light.I did scoot it back out a bit.I've also noticed it's receding from it's skeleton as well now in a few places.I was just adding a filter feeder food to the water. It had it's feeder tentacles out at night for awhile but now it doesn't.I chopped up some shrimp to spot feed it but it's not coming out and i really think it's dying :(

Did you recently get it? What kind of lighting was it under before? I would say too much light if your parameters are good. Have you tested lately?

yes 2 weeks ago.It was under 250watt 14k MH and it's under 250watts 10k now.I tested yesterday and all parameters are in check.Cant remember exact numbers now but all were good.I did a 10% water change yesterday too.I have no clue what the deal is.
