red brown algae HELP!

i am cycling a 75 gallon tank and there is this red brown algae all over my rocks and on the sand, what is it, is it good or bad, is it normal, what should i do?

It's a normal stage for a new tank to go through. If all is done right it will go away on it's own. If it doesn't go away after a few weeks we may have to look into other possibilities/causes/solutions.

I had it extremely bad and replaced my bulbs and installed a phosban reactor 150 and it went away in less than a week. Phosphates are the main cause.

if i put some marine kent phosphosponge in a mesh bag and put it in my filter will it go away

not really. Kent phosphate sponge is designed to pull phophates out once. If you leave the sponge in your tank after 48 hrs the phosphates will leech back into the water. If you know where your phosphates are coming from, (and know this is the problem) you can use the sponge to pull them out initially. Overfeeding, bad water, and crappy cheap carbon release phosphates. Make sure this is your problem. Hope this helps.

i don't overfeed, my water seems ok, the algae is starting to spread even more and it think it is out of control what should i do?
