Red Chili Coral????

They had one of these at my LFS last night and I put it on hold till I find out more about it. I was wondering if anyone on the board has one. They are not photosynthetic, that's about all I know right now, that and it was really pretty.
Any info would be super!!!!
Thanks,

Well, I know nothing about that specific coral, but I can tell you that if it isn't photosynthetic, it is almost certainly hard to keep alive. Anyway, sorry I can't be more helpful, but thought I'd give you that tid-bit of info while you waited for an expert to reply.

I have no experience, but from what I've read...
They are noctournal filter feeders. Fairly hardy if you have enough trace elements for it to filter.

I found it easy to take care of, keep it out of direct light, I have mine hanging under a cave. I put a rock on top of a finger to hold it and it overhangs the cave. It will attach to the rocks. Give it moderate flow so algae does not adhere to it. It filter feeds from its polyps and it swells during that time.

Nice coral..but you will only enjoy it at night. The polyps dont normally open during the day. Care is easy to moderate. The only problem is with non-photosynthetic corals. You need to feed the tank more often to provide a food supply for them.

Mine is enjoyable late at night when it opens. During the day it's just there, not much to look at. I have mine also out of the light under a rock shelf and it starts to open when the last of the lights go out, this includes the room lights also. When the sun starts coming up in the morning and lighting up the room it returns to it's closed state. So far, because I look in my tank in the middle of the night, I'm the only one who has seen it fully open. I've had mine about a month now.
