Depends on the size of the tank. A red general can get up to a foot long, so you would have to have a fairly decent sized tank to be able to keep more than one starfish.

IMO, yes, but kept them both fed. Theoretically, because they are both slow, one could crawl on the other and start eating them. That is something to watch out for...I have seen it with different predatory stars. So you might be better off with just one to avoid this possible situation....however, I've also seen lots kept together with no sign of this. It is possible that certain species or certain individuals are more aggressive.
