Red General Starfish

I have a Red General starfish that has some sort of disease - the symptoms are as follows: has stopped moving around the tank; it has "chunks" taken out of the center of its body; its legs have no form to them anymore; and its mouth looks like it is open wider than usual.

I had the same thing happen to mine. Within a matter of 2 days he had disinegrated. Unfortunatley he didn't survive. When I posted this here someone told me it could of been a bacterial infection. When I asked my LFS where I got him they said"Oh yea sometimes that happens to them" Yea thanks for telling me that before I dropped the cash on him. One other store told me that if it was caught soon enough that a small iodine drop on the open part could have "burned" it closed, May have saved him but it was to late to try. And I wouldn't do that anyway cause it sounds pretty cruel. If ya search this section for my post titled Red General needs help, you can read what another SWFer told me. Thanks, Pieces were falling off of him when I left for work this morning. I have had the starfish for at least three weeks - he did fine until now. I will check out the posts you told me to look at.
