red hair algae

hey everyone,
i have a 180 gallon reef tank. but i have noticed lately that "RED HAIR ALGAE" is starting to grow. and my elegants arent doing so well. what can i do to fix my problems? PLEASE HELP!!!

The problem is probably in the water that you use. Is it tap water? If it is and you continue to use it your problem will not go away. If you start using RO/DI water then it should go away after a while or you can try some water changes to speed it up. You can also try to use a product called "chemi-clean" to get rid of it.

I had the same problem. I resorted to taking every piece of live rock out of my tank and scrubbing it with a nylon bristle brush. I havent seen any algae since. Also you might want to increase your water changes and do them more often

I had same problem switched to ro/di water and problem went away.

I would also try to limit your lighting for a few days and see if that helps you out
