red hermit crabs

The crabs are coming out of their shells. They have what looks like little red eggs on the soft part of their body. How come most of them die.

....huh? Im not sure what you ar getting at. The crabs walk out of their shells then die? the red spots could just be part of their exo skeleton. Im not sure on curstacean anatomy and physiology but it could just be part of their shell. How are they dying, and at what rate?
What other inhabiotants are in the tank?

I had 8 die in two days. I have blue hermits,turbo snails, coral banded shrimp, green chromis, dansile, and 3 green emrial crabs. The green crabs sometimes will eat the red hermits if they find them out of shell.

Did you just put them in or have they been in for awhile?
Get some extra shells. Hermit can fight for shells and the loser can wind up scrambling around looking for a home - and very vulnerable to being munched.

I have only had them in the tank for 4 days.

the blue hermits might have fought them for their shells. The blue legs are pretty aggressive.

Add shells if you don't have extras, Most of my reds are gone because blue killed them even with extra shells.

Are you sure they're not just molting?
