red leg / blue leg hermit crabs

i bought 5 blue leg hermit crabs today (verry small) but after doing some reading i think i soulda bought red leg (always had red leg in the past).... any thoughts on the two?

I always thought blue legs were the "safer" ones.....I have the blue.....they are hermits....they do what hermits do...LOL...and the blue IMO do not grow that big
just make sure you have empty shellsfor them to move into....won't save your snails once they taste them....but could help

I agree. Although many people have mixed them, I have read "somewhere before" that red hermits are meaner and will potentially kill the blues. I have always had the dwarf blue legged hermits only. Just keep an eye on them, and like Meowzer said, have extra shells for them so they will leave your snails alone.

WOW. Mine have never gotten bigger than an inch! Are you sure you were sent the dwarf blue legged hermit? Sounds like you got giant ones instead LOl.

I just got 5 Blue Hermits in my tank with 3 small snails for my CUC. I have 3 empty shells for them that are laying around the tank, so hopefully they won't touch my snails. They are very cool to watch....expecially after having nothing in my tank for 2 weeks!
