red live sand

over the last mont my ls has become almost completly red i dont know if this is corlaine algae or something else there is also a coupole brown spots is this normal like part of the cycle or should i do somethng o ya the tank has been running for a while i just replaced the crushed coral with ls
 
Hi , have you checked your phosphates?? also how old is your lighting. Old bulbs will still work but may give you an undisireble light spectrum.....fixit :) Mr Salty we must have been typing at the same time..

it's mostly likely a type of bacteria, sometimes you get from tap water with some phosphates and sometimes it just grows, it isn't much of a concern though

silent bob you need to check those books it could be a phosphate or as mr fixit said a lighting problem check the levels and do a water change dont worry too much but keep an eye on it ive seen small problems that become big problems good luck
 
Eric, I am not sure what nre is I am sure its a brand of PC but, Like any bulb it could be brand new or old and still have a spectrum problem. If you dont have high phosphates I would almost bet its the lighting...fixit :)
