I woke up this morning discovering one of my red mushrooms upside down on the sand. I tried to flip it over and put it places, but it seems that the current or other things keep knocking them over.
I cannot tell whether it is still alive or not, is there anything I can see to tell if it's still alive or not?
Out of its 'mouth' there is this grey stringy things.
I understand that mushrooms do this (fell off) sometime, but it's been in my tank for about a month now, and suddenly it moved. Can anyone help?
Thanks,

It is still alive, you can wedge it between 2 rocks or place it in a low current are. It will be fine. The gray string things usually show up when you irritate or mess with them.

My small red one went for a walk 3 weeks ago. It broke away from a small mushroom I bought for $5.00 I could not find it anywhere. It was only about 1/2 inch. I finaly found it the other day. It went inside a hole in one of my rocks. It is resting inside. The hole is about 1/2 inch wide and 1 & 1/2 inches deep. :)

Mushrooms do that from time to time. They decide they no longer like where they are, and unattach theirselves from the rock. My LFS sells them for $5 when they become free-floating, and that is how I have got most of my mushrooms. I just place them in a hole in my live rock and they reattach. Anytime I have irritated them, I see the grey stringy things hang out of their mouth. Not to worry. Just place them in an area with low flow and light, and it should be fine.

Thanks for the replies :) . Now the free-floating mushroom is stuck in between the original rock and a big lr, I just left it there.
Thanks again,
