Red Sea Max... My Journey

So this is my first post here at saltwaterfish.com and this is my first saltwater aquarium! It's a Red Sea Max. My buddy and I set it up yesterday.

This was my first attempt at aquascaping. Not pretty. Haha. My second attempt is in the picture below.

Much better!! I'm going to try and keep the back wall clean. So I spaced the LR further up, as you can see in the next two pictures.

So right now, I'm going to let the tank cycle. Let's hope for the best!

Thanks! Well... I figure if I'm gonna do it, I might as well do it big and go REEF!!
Haha. I'm still not sure what all I want in there. Since it's my first tank, I'm gonna take it slow and do my research first. I'm actually focused on getting a chiller at the moment, these Georgia summers will boil my poor fishies.

and Thank you!!
I'm glad I'm getting positive feedback on it. I actually played with the LR so much that the water turned cloudy. So I had to stop and wait until I could see inside the tank again.

I really like the aquascaping. What kind of live rock is that?

Hey fellow Red Sea Maxer.... I also have a Red Sea Max. It's a great tank and you have a lot of potential! These are some really fun tanks to play around with. Good luck with yours!

Two of those bigger pieces actually came from a friend, so I can't account for those two. But the majority of the rock is Cultured Fiji Rock... I actually ordered a 45lb package of it from ***********.com. Here was their description of it...
"...the ideal choice for the environmentally conscious aquarist as an alternative to wild harvested rock. Unlike Caribbean Cultured Rock, Fiji Cultured Rock is man made from pieces of aragonite, shells, and rubble fused together with concrete, making it surprisingly porous and lightweight compared to denser Fiji slab rock or Tongan Lalo rock."
I was drawn to it because it was very lightweight. I payed for 45lbs worth, but it seems as if I received a lot more than that! I actually gave away a few pieces because I didn't have enough room!

Thanks! I think it's a great tank for a beginner! Your RSM looks awesome by the way! I'll keep you updated on my progress! I just have to be patient and let it finish cycling...

Hey friend!
Yeah, it's not like this hobby hasn't burned a hole in my pocket already. By the way, Hailey has been telling you too many hospital stories when you start spelling PATIENCE as PATIENTS... haha. And my ammonia is already up. Hopefully I'll see a rise in Nitrites when I get back from Daytona.

Thanks! Aren't these tanks awesome?! Since we're both in the early stages, I nominate you to be my new Red Sea Max buddy! I'm one week into the cycling process. You should put up some pics of your tank

Yeah I do. Its a nice little tank. Not to small and not to big. I want to post some pictures but I never have a good camera to use. I am going to have to go run over to my moms and snag hers. HOPEfully I can put some up in the next couple of days.
