Nitrates 5.0
Ntirtes 0.25
ph 8.2-8.3
Amonia 0ppm - 0.25ppm
Alk good for marine and inverts 11-12 drops to turn water yellow
Had a nice size fungia in the tank guess it was dying over a period of time and causing the nitrates to raise therefore causing the red algae. I took the dying coral out and after a day or so the nitrates returned to normal.
Now how do I control the red slime that was caused by the high nitrates?
I put the fungia in my QT tank he lived for a few days.......

There's a quick way, and a slow way. The quick way is to add an antibiotic that is sold specifically for cyanobacteria. The slime will be gone in a day or so. The problem is that if the tank conditions are not corrected, the slime will return. The slow way is to rely on water changes to minimize the nutrient load and be sure that there is good flow at the places where the slime is growing. It hates water flow. I much prefer the slow approach, but have to admit that I have used the antibiotic approach once or twice, to good effect.
