Red Slime Crisis!!!

Hello. For a while now (three or four months) my tank has been experiencing a red slime outbreak. I have physically removed the nuissance and have regularly been treating it with Chemiclean Red Slime remover once a month. My lighting system is a T5 Nova Extreme with two 54 Watt Blue Actinic and two 54 watt 10,000k lights for a 90 gallon reef aquarium. I have cut back on my lighting from 10 hours to 8 hours a day. One basic thing I do is run carbon and Phosgaurd, (the little white balls) changing them daily every week to two weeks. Another tactic I have implemented on this problem is running a UV Sterilizer 24 hours a day all week long, along with my protein skimmer. I also have between 40 or 50 hermit crabs in the tank as a clean up crew along with my Sea Hare. To sum it up, I can get the slime to briefly go away by scraping the sand every day but it keeps comming back. Can anyone help me figure out this annoying/detrimental slime problem?

I am not sure of the pumps name but i know that it can pump at 800 Gph. I am pretty sure thats not the problem but turning the lights of for a few days sounds good and bad. I have an electric blue clam that is very demanding of light and my frogspawns are doing unbelievably well with the current 8 hours of light. Thinking of turning of the lights (which is a major food source for those two invertabrates) makes me cringe at the thought of hurting them. What do you think if I was to take out all of my live rock and scrub it and suck out about half an inch thick layer of sand and add some more sand to make up for the sad taken out?

the best way to destroy ur red slime is to pour a bucket of bleach in the tank and guranteed it will kill the red slime.

How long do you keep your Chemi-Clean in the tank before doing a water change? I left mine in for 3-4 days. I also went a little stronger than the bottle recommended. I think the dose was 1 spoonful for every 10 gallons of water. I put in 9 for 75 gallons. Keep in mind that you MUST turn your skimmer off, remove any carbon in your filters, Phosguard, etc. while the Chemi-Clean is in your tank. But, keep the water moving!!! Then do at least a 25% water change

I use 9 scoops for 90 gallons and for the first 24 hours i unplug my skimmer and UV sterilizer and remove any carbon or filter media for a full 48 hours then do a 27 gallon water change.
