Believe it or not but red slime algae is actually rather fascinating, you can see how it will migrate onto coral or rock and kind of 'move' along. It seems to thrive in its own relative way and can over take a tank . It even grows on other algae.

test your phosphates to see what they are.

You may be feeding to much. Cut back to every other day, and add more flow to you tank.

red slime needs phosphates to develop so I would reccomend lowering them maybe adding magros to your system to compete for nutrients. increased flow will also help. physical removal may help slow the spread but it sounds like your phosphates are probably high and your flow isnt enough. Good luck

Do you use RO/DI water, and do weekly water changes 20/25% If not this may be a good place to start.

yeah my water runs thru a water softner so it takes all the chlorine and harmful chemicals and i do water changes every week

water softeners will not take out chlorine or bad chemicals. it lowers your hardness. they generally use salt, which is not the kind of salt you want your fish in.

You need to use better water. At least pick up one of those Aquarium Pharmaceuticals tapwater filters, which is a deionizing filter good for about 100 gallons of water. They're cheap (25 or so). Better still in the long run, invest $150 or so in a permanent Ro/Di system.
In the meantime, feed your fish less--once every 2 to 3 days--for a while. Over time, you can return to feeding daily, but only feed very little.
You might also reduce your lighting period each day by a few hours.
Finally, spend $3 at Target on a good turkey baster. Use it to suck out red slime as possible, and use it to squirt the slime off of your corals and any sessile invertebrates. It can choke them out.
Good luck!

today i just bought this phosphate filter, hangs on the side of my fuge. it is a multi purpose filter but the media i have in it, removes phosphates.

too long of light, phosphates, low water flow are all reasonable answers for cyano. Make sure you have enough water movement, your lights should be on a timer, and get some water changes done. You can also use different products to help remove the phosphates. Keep an eye on your pH and such.
