when you touch it, does it feel slimy and come off, or is it hard? coraline won't budge, but red slime will come off of the rock. coraline doesn't produce bubbles like that though, so my bet is on cyano (red slime)

it does feel slimy ajnd does fall off easily. i shut off the lights for a day and the slime did seem to recede but i have a bubble tip anemone that retracted. is it bad for the anemone to not have light??

Welcome to the wonderful world of cyano bacteria....
Post your water parameters, tank size, flow rate, lighting, what livestock you have, what you are feeding, etc. so we can figure out what is causing it.
Likely candidates include poor source water, not enough circulation, overfeeding, etc.

To much feeding, not enough flow. Always use RO/DI water.
