Red star nearly climbinh out of the water?

Why is he doing this? He is a new addition to the tank, I've had him a few days. He always climbs all the way to the top edge of the water and then will bend one of his legs back just barely under the water across the top of the tank. I've pulled him off and put him back on the sand a handful of times, but he just keeps climbing back to the top. Normal? Anything I can do to stop it?

this would be normal behavior for a chocolate chip or a red general starfish.

I second that.... I have a fancy red sea star that does the same thing.

Mine sometimes sticks his stomach out of the water! When there isn't food on the floor for him, you WILL see him cruising up high on the glass.

So, would it be a decent idea to try to drop some shrimp on him when he is atop the tank like this?

whenever my chocolate chip did this i s just placed a small piece of food directly on the mouth and that always made himgo back down cuz they cant eat unless they have all their arms on the glass "trapping" the food.

Man, I cannot get him to grab food for anything. It just blows away in the current.
