hello. i have red marron stuff all over my tank and rocks and pumps. Even my little crabs have reddish stuff on them. I cant even scrape the red stuff off.
WHat is this and how do get rid of it.

if it doesnt come off easily it sounds like corralline algae taking hold. new tanks will go through dramatic color changes as this stuff grows with different shades of red , purple and green. if that is the case, it is very good to have

My bet would be red slime(cyanobacteria).
Did it cover everything relatively fast?
Does it wipe off real easy?

no it doesnt wipe off easy at all.. in fact im unable to scrub it off some of the pumps at all.
i do get some occasional 'slime' stuff.. but that vacuums out real easy when i do my water changes.

Man your lucky. Some people die to have some color in their tank with these beautiful red/purple coraline algae
