Redoing my tank and need help!

I am redoing my tank that crashed and was wondering if the Aragamax Sand was a good substrate to use. I used to have crushed coral and hated it. I contacted my local Home Depot and they said that they don't carry and will not order the Tropical play sand. I was going to order the sand for $17 for 30lbs. I have a 20 gallon tank, also i was wondering how much live rock I should add. I currently have about 8lbs that i managed to save. I don't think its live anymore, can i still add the new live rock and make it live again?

Im not sure, but I think the aragamax sand should do just fine. As for liverock, I think it's usually 1-1.5lbs per gallon, although it depends on what you're planning to keep and whatnot. I'm still somewhat new to all of this, so this is what I've been reading. So if you could get another 20lbs or so of LR you should be jsut fine. Yes, you can still use your 8lbs. Even if it's dead now, use it as a base and stack your other rocks on top of it. In time, it will become 'live' rock again.
